Monoclinic Ru(PO3)3 was prepared as the third form of RuP3O9, and the structure was determined by the single-crystal X-ray technique. It contains infinite spiral chains of polyphosphate ions and RuO6 octahedra as found in other C-form metaphosphates. While other C-form metaphosphates have 3-fold superstructures, monoclinic Ru(PO3)3 has a superstructure with an 8-fold b-axis. The space group is P21/a, and the cell parameters are a = 10.578(5) Å, b = 51.154(5) Å, c = 9.394(4) Å, and β = 97.74(4)°. The comparison ...

Signal-induced proliferation-associated 1 (SIPA1)-like 1 (SIPA1L1; also known as SPAR1) has been proposed to regulate synaptic functions that are important in maintaining normal neuronal activities, such as regulating spine growth and synaptic scaling, as a component of the PSD-95/NMDA-R-complex. However, its physiological role remains poorly understood. Here, we performed expression analyses using super-resolution microscopy (SRM) in mouse brain and demonstrated that SIPA1L1 is mainly localized to ...

Adipocyte differentiation is regulated by various mechanisms, of which mitotic clonal expansion (MCE) is a key step. Although this process is known to be regulated by cell cycle modulators, the precise mechanism remains unclear. N6-Methyladenosine (m6A) posttranscriptional RNA modification, whose methylation and demethylation are performed by respective enzyme molecules, has recently been suggested to be involved in the regulation of adipogenesis. Here, we show that an RNA N6-adenosine methyltransferase ...

Recently, cyclopentyl methyl ether (CPME) has found use as a commercially available solvent for various applications. As CPME shows better properties such as more hydrophobicity, less solublity in water, less volatility, and more stablity compared with typical ethereal solvents, it could be used as a diluent or an extractant in liquid-liquid extraction systems. In the present study, CPME was found to be useful for the extraction of Au(III) in hydrochloric acid media. Extraction of Au(III) increased ...

Photocatalytic activity from the reaction of titanium oxide with ultraviolet light has recently gained much attention. In particular, there is scientific interest in inducing photocatalytic reactions on Ti-Ni alloy, a material widely used in orthodontic applications. However, it is believed that inducing a photocatalytic reaction with an amorphous oxide film on the alloy is a difficult challenge. In this study, therefore, we sought to induce a photocatalytic reaction on Ti-Ni alloy by subjecting ...

We developed an on–line experimental system for conducting hybrid experiments in real time. It combines a computer, which conducts vibration simulation and generates a control signal, and a hydraulic actuator, which conducts a vibration experiment driven by the control signal. This system compensates for actuator delay and thus enables experiments to be carried out in real time. We evaluated the stability of the experiments with respect to the mass of the structure under excitation, and we developed ...

Polycomb repressive complex 2 (PRC2) methylates histone H3 lysine 27 and represses gene expression to regulate cell proliferation and differentiation. Enhancer of zeste homolog 2 (EZH2) or its close homolog EZH1 functions as a catalytic subunit of PRC2, so there are two PRC2 complexes containing either EZH2 or EZH1. Tumorigenic functions of EZH2 and its synthetic lethality with some subunits of SWItch/Sucrose Non-Fermentable (SWI/SNF) chromatin remodeling complexes have been observed. However, little ...

Here we show a technique to obtain a tilt series of dark-field (DF) transmission electron microscopy (TEM) images in ordering alloys for tomographic three-dimensional (3D) observations. A tilt series of DF TEM images of D1a-ordered Ni4Mo precipitates in a Ni-Mo alloy was successfully obtained by adjusting a diffraction condition for a superlattice reflection from the Ni4Mo precipitates. Since the superlattice reflection usually has a long extinction distance, dynamic diffraction effects such as thickness ...

It was shown that a new taxane analogue 3, which exhibited both in vitro antitumor activity and in vivo efficacy by both i.v. and p.o. administration, was prone to be metabolized by human liver microsomes. We identified a major metabolite, M-1, generated by human liver microsomes as 20a, a hydroxylated compound at the pyridine ring of 3. To improve the metabolic stability of 3, we designed and synthesized new taxane analogues based on the structure of M-1, and obtained some compounds that maintained ...

Abstract The Toll-like receptor (TLR) family acts as pattern recognition receptors for pathogen-specific molecular patterns (PAMPs). TLR2 is essential for the signaling of a variety of PAMPs, including bacterial lipoprotein/lipopeptides, peptidoglycan, and GPI anchors. TLR6 associates with TLR2 and recognizes diacylated mycoplasmal lipopeptide along with TLR2. We report here that TLR1 associates with TLR2 and recognizes the native mycobacterial 19-kDa lipoprotein along with TLR2. Macrophages from ...

High molecular mass copolymers (P(EH/EO)s) were synthesized by coordination anionic polymerization of ethylene oxide (EO) and epichlorohydrin (EH), and P(EH/EO)s were used for the preparation of the ion-conducting matrix. The copolymers having EO unit contents of less than 63 mol% were amorphous, and subjected to the complexation with lithium perchlorate. The temperature dependence of ionic conductivity of the P(EH/EO)/LiClO4 complexes was expressed by the Williams–Landel–Ferry equation. Optimal conductivity ...

We previously investigated the relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and gastric polyps and have found that H. pylori infection was closely associated with the formation of hyperplastic foveolar polyps.1 This relationship is supported by two case reports of Veereman2 and Mocek3 and their associates, who found that the clearance and eradication of H. pylori led to the disappearance of hyperplastic foveolar polyps. However, these studies did not provide information on the changes in endoscopic ...
