1997年と1998年の夏期に,シベリアティクシ近郊のツンドラにおいて活動層の土壌を調査した.活動層の土壌は,おおよそ4層にわけられた.各層位の地温,含水比,透水係数,熱伝導率はそれぞれの層位に特徴的な値をしめした.母岩と下層は流域内で単一であったが,上層の土の物理的性質や活動層の厚さは,地下水位や表面状態によって異なった.得られた土壌の水分状態と表面状態から,ティクシ近郊のツンドラの活動層土壌は,それぞれ水文特性の異なる5型4層に分類された.
