Abstract Background: The β-core fragment of human chorionic gonadotropin (hCGβcf), also termed “β-core” and urinary gonadotropin peptide (UGP), has been reported to be present in the urine of healthy women and to increase in concentration after menopause. This could reflect cross-reaction with the equivalent metabolite of luteinizing hormone (LH), the β-LH-core. Methods: We measured immunoreactive LH, hCG, free α-subunit, and free β-subunit hCG (hCGβ), as well as β-core, using the S504 RIA and Triton ...

Digital platforms such as Google, Facebook and Netflix have caused a watershed moment not only for markets and businesses but also for media policy. Concerns about the US-based digital platforms’ impact on national media markets have grown among European media businesses as well as policy makers. Media policy research argues that small media markets are particularly vulnerable to global players and foreign influence, but that market size must be understood also in the context of political traditions. ...

Most research on the changes affecting commercial media focuses on big markets and, except in some instances, fails to incorporate media managers' views. Background Understanding and assessing patients’ body movements is essential for physical rehabilitation but is challenging in video consultations, as clinicians are frequently unable to see the whole patient or observe the patient as they perform specific movements. Objective The objective of this exploratory study was to assess the use of readily available technologies that would enable remote assessment of patient movement as part of a video consultation. Methods We reviewed the literature and ...

Using synchrotron-based luminescence excitation spectroscopy in the energy range 4–20 eV at 8 K, the indirect Γ–X optical band-gap transition in cubic boron nitride is determined as 6.36 ± 0.03 eV, and the quasi-direct band-gap energy of hexagonal boron nitride is determined as 5.96 ± 0.04 eV. The composition and structure of the materials are self-consistently established by optically detected x-ray absorption spectroscopy, and both x-ray diffraction and Raman measurements on the same samples give ...
