Metals, such as copper and silver, can be extremely toxic to bacteria at exceptionally low concentrations. Because of this biocidal activity, metals have been widely used as antimicrobial agents in a multitude of applications related with agriculture, healthcare, and the industry in general. A large number of microorganisms live in the human environment. if the balance of these creatures in nature is disturbed, the health of the individual and society will be threatened due to the production and ...

In this paper, a numerical investigation is carried out to study the blood flow behavior within the stenosis artery. An artery is under applying a constant heat flux on the boundary walls in this simulation. Lumen model is employed for simulation of the artery and the Sisko model is used to indicate properties of blood as non-Newtonian fluid. Also, the cone geometry of stenosis with different severities and radii are simulated. Then, effects of heat flux, different severities of stenosis, and different ...

In photocatalytic system, singlet oxygen can be generated based on the excitonic energy transfer process. Here, the 2D layered hallyosite (Hal) as a support hydroxyl group's substrate to anchor molybdenum trioxide (MoO3-x) with oxygen vacancies (Hal/MoO3-x) was prepared. Electron spin resonance and quenching experiments showed that the combination of Hal and MoO3-x enhances the generation of singlet oxygen (1O2) and inhibits the production of other reactive oxygen species. Furthermore, photocatalytic ...

DNA methylation is one of the main epigenetic mechanisms in cancer development and progression. Aberrant DNA methylation of CpG islands within promoter regions contributes to the dysregulation of various tumor suppressors and oncogenes; this leads to the appearance of malignant features, including rapid proliferation, metastasis, stemness, and drug resistance. The discovery of two important protein families, DNA methyltransferases (DNMTs) and Ten-eleven translocation (TET) dioxygenases, respectively, ...

The adsorption of Fluorouracil on C82 and Si82 nanocages is investigated by theoretical methods. The main parameters of adsorption of C82, Si82, Ti-C82 and Ti-Si82 nanocages on Fluorouracil are calculated. The Si82 has higher ability to adsorb the Fluorouracil than C82. Energy of adoption (Eadoption), cohesive energy, HOMO-LUMO energy difference, Gibbs free energy (ΔG) and recovery time (τ) values of Fluorouracil-nanocage complexes are calculated. The τ index of Ti-C82-Fluorouracil and Ti-Si82-Fluorouracil ...

Effective prevention of β-thalassemia (β-thal) requires strategies to detect at-risk couples. This is the first study attempting to assess the prevalence of silent β-thal carriers in the Malaysian population. Hematological and clinical parameters were evaluated in healthy blood donors and patients with β-thal trait, Hb E (HBB: c.79G>A)/β-thal and β-thal major (β-TM). β-Globin gene sequencing was carried out for 52 healthy blood donors, 48 patients with Hb E/β-thal, 34 patients with β-TM and 38 patients ...

The primary objective of this review is to present a comprehensive examination of the synthesis, characterization, and antibacterial applications of covalent organic frameworks (COFs). COFs represent a distinct category of porous materials characterized by a blend of advantageous features, including customizable pore dimensions, substantial surface area, and adaptable chemical properties. These attributes position COFs as promising contenders for various applications, notably in the realm of antibacterial ...

In this work, ultra-sensors of chemical solvents vapor were fabricated for chloroform, n-Hexane and Ethanol via modified porous silicon (PS) surface by the reduction of graphene oxide (rGO) layer. The rGO was conducted by electrochemical exfoliation of graphite electrodes with electrolyte solution at PH = 4.6. Then porous silicon (PS) was prepared by employing electrochemical etching (ECE) method using silicon (Si) p-type at different etching current density J = 2, 4 and 6 mA/cm2with constant HF concentration ...

Finding new drug-delivery materials has attracted considerable interest from many researchers in recent years. Herein, systematic investigation of the metformin interaction with the surface of pristine B12N12 and group I metals (Li, Na, and K) encapsulation nanoclusters was carried out at B3LYP/631++ (d, p) level of theory based on the DFT calculations. MF molecule has two nucleophilic sites, NH and NH2 groups. The trapping of Li, Na, and K atoms affected the HOMO–LUMO gaps of the considered configurations ...

Humidity is the one of physical quantities that widely measured and is of very important in a many fields. In this paper, the ultra sensor of humidity was created using modified porous layer of silicon (PS), by thin films of reduction graphene oxide sheets (rGO). The electrochemical method was applied to exfoliation electrodes of graphite for preparing rGO sheets in peeling solution Acidic about PH = 4.6. p-type of Silicon waver (Si) was used for formulating PS samples using electrochemical etching (ECE) ...

AbstractThe present study investigates the utilisation of density functional theory (DFT) to examine unmodified and amino acid-functionalised C4B32 borospherenes as potential carriers for drug transport. The recent and significant finding of borospherenes, which are composed of a cluster of four carbon atoms fused into a B364- structure (referred to as C4B32), has provided a valuable opportunity to explore the potential capabilities of unmodified and alanine-modified C4B32 clusters as efficient vehicles ...

This study aimed to induce estrus by using Human Menopausal Gonadotrophin (HMG) in Iraqi Awassi Ewes and comparison its action with Pregnant Mare Serum Gonadotrophin (PMSG). The study was carried out between first of June 2018(non or earlier-breeding season) until all ewes lambing in the middle of November 2018. Sixty Iraqi Awassi ewes aged 2-4 years old and weight 35-45 kg were used in this study. Ewes were divided randomly into three groups, (20 ewes per each). All ewes comprised of intra-vaginal ...

A key aspect of how the brain learns and enables decision-making processes is through synaptic interactions. Electrical transmission and communication in a network of synapses are modulated by extracellular fields generated by ionic chemical gradients. Emulating such spatial interactions in synthetic networks can be of potential use for neuromorphic learning and the hardware implementation of artificial intelligence. Here, we demonstrate that in a network of hydrogen-doped perovskite nickelate devices, ...
