Abstract A virus outbreak challenges the economic, medical, and public health infrastructure worldwide. More than one virus capable of triggering diseases have been identified per year since 1972, which requires the development of new ways of treatment and prevention, however, such processes are not rapid and easy. With the pandemic scenario experienced since early 2020, several drugs with well‐known purposes have gained prominence, due to speculation of their use in the treatment against the new ...

This paper describes an original one-pot way to synthesize nine new halogenated aminoquinoline derivatives using reactions conducted by niobium pentachloride. Subsequently, we describe an efficient and selective reduction reaction of nitroquinolines using niobium pentachloride and zinc, producing important compounds in the organic synthesis. The results showed that it is an important tool to synthesize these compounds, besides being time- and resources-saving and generating good yields. A quick ...

Textile industry wastes raise a great concern due to their strong coloration and toxicity. The objective of the present work was to characterize the degradation and mineralization of textile effluents by advanced oxidative processes using either TiO2 or TiO2/H2O2 association and to monitor the toxicity of the products formed during 6 h irradiation in relation to that of the in natura effluent. The results obtained demonstrated that the TiO2/H2O2 association was more efficient in the mineralization ...

Controlled primary cell wall remodeling allows plant growth under stressful conditions, but how these changes are conveyed to adjust cellulose synthesis is not understood. Here, we identify the TETRATRICOPEPTIDE THIOREDOXIN-LIKE (TTL) proteins as new members of the cellulose synthase complex (CSC) and describe their unique and hitherto unknown dynamic association with the CSC under cellulose-deficient conditions. We find that TTLs are essential for maintaining cellulose synthesis under high-salinity ...

The stabilization of a network controlled system including a global time-varying delay is investigated in this note. This delay is considered to be unknown but it is assumed that a bounded error estimate is available. The exponential uncertainty induced by the time-varying delay is decomposed into the sum of a polytopic term and an uncertain bounded term. Sufficient conditions to design a dynamic output feedback controller depending on an estimate of the time-varying delay are proposed as linear ...

Brassinosteroids (BRs) form a group of steroidal hormones essential for plant growth, development, and stress responses. BRs are perceived extracellularly by plasma membrane receptor-like kinases that activate an interconnected signal transduction cascade, leading to the transcriptional regulation of BR-responsive genes. TETRATRICOPEPTIDE THIOREDOXIN-LIKE (TTL) genes are specific for land plants, and their encoded proteins are defined by the presence of protein–protein interaction motives, that is, ...

Summary The term polymer retention describes all mechanisms that remove the polymer from the flowing solution, with adsorption being its primary cause. This phenomenon can lead to detrimental effects during polymer enhanced oil recovery (EOR). We study the effects of permeability and polymer concentration on the adsorption under two conditions: on virgin cores (adsorption) and ...
