Social network communities are composed of people with common interests who influence or are influenced by themselves. In the scientific context, Scientific Social Networks are characterized as social networks that represent the social relations established by researchers. Identifying and exploring these relationships are fundamental activities to support scientific experiments. In this study, we aim to discuss the use of complex networks combined with semantic analysis in a network of scientific ...

Mexico is one of the most biodiverse countries in the world, with an important proportion of endemism mainly because of the convergence of the Nearctic and Neotropical biogeographic regions, which generate great diversity and species turnover at different spatial scales. However, most of our knowledge of the Mexican ant biota is limited to a few well-studied taxa, and we lack a comprehensive synthesis of ant biodiversity information. For instance, most of the knowledge available in the literature ...

Human alteration toward environment modifies the spatial distribution of available resources that influences habitat selection in animals. Thus, it is necessary to identify the resources that determine species occurrence in modified landscapes to provide the basis for future conservation efforts. We evaluated the habitat use and microhabitat selection of two lizard species with different niche requirements in a resource availability gradient caused by disturbance. Surveys were conducted in El Cielo ...

Leaf beetles (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) constitute a family of abundant, diverse, and ecologically important herbivorous insects, due to their high specificity with host plants, a close association with vegetation and a great sensitivity to microclimatic variation (factors that are modified gradually during the rainy and dry seasons). Therefore, the effects of seasonality (rainy and dry seasons) and microclimate on the community attributes of chrysomelids were evaluated in a semideciduous tropical ...

Inspections can be used to identify defects in software artifacts. In this way, inspection methods help to improve software quality, especially when used early in software development. Inspections of software design may be especially crucial since design defects (problems of correctness and completeness with respect to the requirements, internal consistency, or other quality attributes) can directly affect the quality of, and effort required for, the implementation. We have created a set of “reading ...

Disturbance in natural areas occurs as a result of various processes on various spatio-temporal scales, generating a heterogeneous mosaic of environmental characteristics. The effect of such change on diversity patterns has been explained by the hypothesis of habitat heterogeneity. Modifications in abiotic and biotic factors such as plant density influence the composition and structure of assemblages of phytophagous insects. Response of the leaf beetle (Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) assemblage to such ...

In social network analysis, a key issue is the detection of meaningful communities. This problem consists of finding groups of people who are both connected and semantically aligned. In the software development context, identifying communities considering both collaborations between developers and their skills can help to address critical elements or issues in a project. However, a large amount of data and the lack of data structure make it difficult to analyze these networks' content. In this paper, ...

Abstract As whole-genome sequencing (WGS) becomes the gold standard tool for studying population genomics and medical applications, data on diverse non-European and admixed individuals are still scarce. Here, we present a high-coverage WGS dataset of 1,171 highly admixed elderly Brazilians from a census-based cohort, providing over 76 million variants, of which ~2 million are absent from large public databases. WGS enables identification of ~2,000 previously undescribed mobile element insertions without ...

Abstract Background Ethylene and vinyl acetate (EVA) and polyether block amide (PEBA) are recently the most widely used materials for advanced footwear technology (AFT) that has been shown to improve running economy (RE). This study investigated the effects of these midsole materials on RE and biomechanics, in both fresh and worn state (after 450 km). Methods Twenty‐two male trained runners participated in this study.
