We demonstrate optically pumped dynamic nuclear polarization of 29-Si nuclear spins that are strongly coupled to paramagnetic color centers in 4H- and 6H-SiC. The 99 +/- 1% degree of polarization at room temperature corresponds to an effective nuclear temperature of 5 microKelvin. By combining ab initio theory with the experimental identification of the color centers' optically excited states, we quantitatively model how the polarization derives from hyperfine-mediated level anticrossings. These results ...

The electron spins of semiconductor defects can have complex interactions with their host, particularly in polar materials like SiC where electrical and mechanical variables are intertwined. By combining pulsed spin resonance with ab-initio simulations, we show that spin-spin interactions within SiC neutral divacancies give rise to spin states with an enhanced Stark effect, sub-10**-6 strain sensitivity, and highly spin-dependent photoluminescence with intensity contrasts of 15-36%. These results ...

Dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) is an attractive method for initializing nuclear spins that are strongly coupled to optically active electron spins because it functions at room temperature and does not require strong magnetic fields. In this Letter, we theoretically demonstrate that DNP, with near-unity polarization efficiency, can be generally realized in weakly coupled electron spin-nuclear spin systems. Furthermore, we theoretically and experimentally show that the nuclear spin polarization ...

Divacancies, atom-sized defects, are potential building blocks for future quantum networks, but controlling and communicating with them requires demanding capabilities. New experiments show that divacancies in a form of silicon carbide can be isolated and allow for coherent transfer of quantum information between their spin and light.

Dynamic nuclear spin polarization (DNP) mediated by paramagnetic point defects in semiconductors is a key resource for both initializing nuclear quantum memories and producing nuclear hyperpolarization. DNP is therefore an important process in the field of quantum-information processing, sensitivity-enhanced nuclear magnetic resonance, and nuclear-spin-based spintronics. DNP based on optical pumping of point defects has been demonstrated by using the electron spin of nitrogen-vacancy (NV) center in ...

Abstract The article presents the results of an analysis of the influence of natural zeolite minerals of the Kholinsky deposit on hematological blood parameters of rabbits. Activation of erythropoiesis and an increase in the amount of hemoglobin are associated with sufficient oxygen supply to the tissues and an increase in metabolic processes in the animal body. A decrease in white blood cell count is a result of an increase in immune status in rabbits.

Defect-based quantum systems in in wide bandgap semiconductors are strong candidates for scalable quantum-information technologies. However, these systems are often complicated by charge-state instabilities and interference by phonons, which can diminish spin-initialization fidelities and limit room-temperature operation. Here, we identify a pathway around these drawbacks by showing that an engineered quantum well can stabilize the charge state of a qubit. Using density-functional theory and experimental ...

In the article it was suggested to simulate the process of super-plastic deformation on optically transparent materials, created on diene and vinyl-aromatic carbohydrates, polar softener and achromatic stabilizer. It was shown that the index of rate hardening of such materials could change from 0.2 to 1.0 within the rate intervals of super-plastic deformation. The authors are convinced that prior to this article the alloy Sn-38%Pb was the best material for simulation of the processes of super-plastic ...

Abstract The relative advantages of the tools for the environmental protection have been assessed in the article. From the economical point of view emission taxes, subsidies for abatement of emissions, and market-based permit system are more preferable in comparison with the control and management systems. According to statistics of military surgeons in local wars, the percentage of deaths from bleeding on the battlefield has remained quite high in recent decades: in Afghanistan, 43% due to untimely first aid for gunshot and mine-explosive wounds, of which 27% died from acute blood loss.
