Abstract Whilst the settlement history of Hindustanis in the Netherlands has been relatively well researched, there is no scholarly literature on specific local communities. In this article one specific community is introduced and studied with special attention to its newly built temple. It is argued that having a purpose-built temple causes various shifts in ritual strategies, as well as in representational politics.

There is a concern that traditional instruction based methods of learning do not adequately prepare students for the challenges of physical therapy practice. Self-directed learning is considered to be the most appropriate educational approach to enhance life-long learning as it enhances self-efficacy. This study compares outcomes in two educational approaches: self-directed learning (SDL), and traditional instruction based learning (IBL). In this non-randomized experimental study two groups of second ...

On March 11, 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) elevated the status of the novel coronavirus (COVID19) to a pandemic. Although the assessments are changing rapidly, COVID19 has now infected and taken the lives of thousands. Since the first cases appeared in late 2019, COVID19 has unleashed widespread shock on public and clinical health systems that struggle to respond to the surge, and on global economic productivity as workers are increasingly restricted from participation. A profound anxiety ...

Probiotics for food or supplement use have been studied in numerous clinical trials, addressing a broad variety of diseases, and conditions. However, discrepancies were observed in the clinical outcomes stemming from the use of lactobacillaceae and bifidobacteria strains. These differences are often attributed to variations in the clinical trial protocol like trial design, included target population, probiotic dosage, or outcome parameters measured. However, a contribution of the methods used to ...

It is well known that cardiometabolic diseases (CMD) such as myocardial infarction, stroke and diabetes are associated with excess mortality and morbidity, and it is broadly accepted that an individual's lifestyle and activity levels are major risk factors.1 This is particularly true for patients who are largely sedentary, have limited mobility, or who find it difficult to maintain adequate levels of physical activity much less achieve the recommended moderate-to-vigorous physical levels for cardiometabolic ...

Thank you for this opportunity to share perspectives from our work within the Physiotherapy and Refugees Education Project, PREP, an Erasmus+ funded project within the KA2 strategic partnership program. This article assumes that epistemological beliefs of physiotherapists are an important determinant in improving the concept of evidence-based practice. Little research has been done on epistemological beliefs in physiotherapy. In order to measure the sophistication of epistemological beliefs in future research, two complementary questionnaires (DEBQ and CAEB) were cross-culturally adapted in nine different countries and seven languages in Europe. A standardized seven-step guideline was used to translate ...

Relevance: In the recent years a rapid increase in the use of technology in education was witnessed, particularly concerning e-learning platforms, social networks and web-quizzes. These tools have been increasingly adopted by many health related educational institutions. Because of their ease of use and quick dissemination, they offer the opportunity of powerful information sharing and ease of collaboration which can be taken anywhere, providing the potential for "anytime, anywhere" learning experiences ( ...

Purpose: This article assumes that, in order to improve evidence-based practice in physiotherapy, practitioners need sophisticated epistemic beliefs. Epistemic beliefs, or how physiotherapists view knowledge and how they come to this knowledge, are an important factor. A high sophistication of epistemic beliefs is linked to better handling of the complexity and uncertainty of daily practice and the variety of evidence resources associated with this practice.Materials and methods: This study explored ...
