I send you a transcript of a paper which I am surprised not to find published in any of the printed collections of State Trials. It possesses sufficient importance, both historical and legal, to have entitled it to a place in those collections; but, as it has not been noticed by their editors, nor, as far as I know, been printed elsewhere, it may be thought worthy of a place in the Archseologia. It has reference to some very important transactions in the reign of queen Elizabeth, and relates to ...

The results of penile tumescence recordings from first- and second-night polysomnograms from 146 normal subjects are presented for four age groups. The data are in close agreement with basic tumescence parameters that have been presented earlier. In addition, results from first and second nights are compared, and data are presented from base and coronal sulcus (tip) recordings locations. The results indicate that tumescence parameters that are most correlated with rapid-eye-movement sleep are those ...

Summary This study examined rebound insomnia after discontinuation of chronic use of zolpidem (10 mg), a short elimination half-life imidazopyridine. The zolpidem group was bracketed by a placebo group and a positive control group taking 0.5 mg of triazolam (twice the recommended dose), which is known to produce rebound insomnia. Ninety-nine patients with sleep complaints that were polysomnographically documented participated in the study. After randomization, patients completed a 2-night, single- ...

Judging from repetitious appearances of her marital arms in the painted line-endings, the Psalter-Hours John Rylands Library Latin MS 117 probably belonged to Jeanne of Flanders (c.1272–1333), daughter of Count Robert III of Flanders and in 1288 second wife to Enguerrand IV of Coucy. Yet the line-endings also contain some 1,800 diminutive painted escutcheons, many of which refer to other members of the local nobility active during the 1280s. This study, based on an exhaustive survey of the total ...

Evaluations of nocturnal penile tumescence (NPT) and penile blood pressure were performed on (1) a group of nondiabetics with normal NPT, (2) a group of nondiabetics with abnormally diminished NPT, and (3) a group of diabetics with abnormally diminished NPT. The 12 subjects in each group complained of impotence. Analysis of blood pressure data taken before the NPT evaluation suggests the possibility of selective low arterial blood pressure in impotent patients who show no obvious signs of other vascular ...

Obstructive sleep apnea syndrome leads to an increased risk of motor vehicle accidents through multiple pathways. Sleep apnea and motor vehicle crashes are common, and motor vehicle collisions are the leading causes of death amongst accidents. Therefore, the clinician charged with the care of apneic patients must address the issue of safe driving. Some recent evidence reveals that driving simulator technology may discriminate apneic drivers from control drivers as well as those apneics at a lesser ...

Treatment with the antidepressant trazodone has been associated with the occurrence of prolonged penile erection and priapism. To evaluate the effect of trazodone on erection we monitored the periodic physiological sleep-related erections in 6 healthy volunteers in a double-blind crossover study comparing the effect of trazodone, trimipramine (a tricyclic antidepressant) and placebo. In addition, to determine the effects of trazodone on the neurovascular control of penile smooth muscle we performed ...

The interaction of water vapor with freshly prepared bulk YBa2Cu3Oy produces an increase in the number of EPR active Cu2+ ions. For many of the samples studied, the number increased by a factor of about 5. On further exposure to water vapor, the number decreases to approximately its initial value. We suggest that the increase and decrease of the Cu2+ signal is due primarily to residual BaCuO2. The changes in the EPR spectra of BaCuO2 when exposed to water vapor are similar to those observed for ...
