Objectives Prospectively follow pediatric appendicitis patients to assess outcomes and rates of appendiceal perforations relative to duration of symptomatology and appendectomy timing. Methods Data were collected on the duration of symptomatology to diagnosis and from diagnosis to appendectomy. Symptomatology duration was evaluated in 24-hour increments, and diagnosis to appendectomy was evaluated in 3-hour intervals. Objectives: The gamma-aminobutyric acid modulator propofol induces neuronal cell death in healthy immature brains by unbalancing neurotrophin homeostasis via p75 neurotrophin receptor signaling. In adulthood, p75 neurotrophin receptor becomes down-regulated and propofol loses its neurotoxic effect. However, acute brain lesions, such as traumatic brain injury, reactivate developmental-like programs and increase p75 neurotrophin receptor expression, probably to foster reparative processes, which in ...

The complete Currarino triad (or syndrome) consists of anorectal anomalies, a sacral bony defect, and a presacral mass. Generally autosomal dominant in its inheritance, incomplete penetrance also characterizes this syndrome. We report the case of a 12-day-old patient with vomiting in whom a diagnosis of incomplete Currarino syndrome was made.
