Abstract This study presents detailed analysis of the energy and exergy utilizations of the Jordanian Small-Medium Enterprises (SMEs) by considering the flows of energy and exergy through the main end uses in the Jordanian industrial sector. To achieve this purpose, a survey covering 180 facilities was conducted and energy consumption data was gathered to establish detailed end-use balance for the Jordanian industrial sector. The energy end-use balance provides a starting point to estimate the site ...

Several Zinc Oxide (ZnO) photo-anodes were prepared with different morphologies. For each morphology, two composites containing graphene oxide (GO) were prepared. ZnO sheet-flowers attained the highest efficiency among control samples, owing to the light diffraction that may be caused by such morphology. On the other hand, ZnO rods achieved lower performance than ZnO sheet-flowers, but higher than ZnO flowers, due to their porosity and structure, which may scatter light effectively. The effect of ...

Previous literature has investigated the association of this phenomenon and Internet addiction. Nevertheless, little research has been conducted to elucidate the predictive associations among these concepts among students. This study reported students' cyberchondria and Internet addiction, and it examined whether cyberchondria predicts Internet addiction.During the COVID-19 pandemic, cross-sectional data were collected using a web survey from a convenience snowball sample of 143 students enrolled ...

Indeed, utilizing a base isolation system in RC structures can remarkably minimize the possibility of failure, particularly in seismic-prone countries. Despite that, the design of these structures is a long procedure that consists of choosing the appropriate isolator to optimize the nonlinear behavior of the superstructure. Moreover, the numerical simulations require huge computational effort when high accuracy is required. In recent decades, scientists and engineers have applied numerous estimation ...

Bronchiolitis is a leading cause of hospital admissions and death in young children. Clinical practice guidelines (CPG) to diagnose and manage bronchiolitis have helped healthcare providers to avoid unnecessary investigations and interventions and to provide evidence-based treatment. Aim of this study is to determine the effect of implementing CPG for the diagnosis and management of bronchiolitis in a tertiary hospital in Jordan. The study compared children (age <24 months) diagnosed with bronchiolitis ...

The electrochemical reduction processes of a new series of asymmetrical trityl di- (TrSSR) and trisulfides (TrSSSR) were studied using cyclic voltammetry on bare and coated gold electrodes. On a coated gold electrode surface, adsorption phenomena are absent; the electrochemical reduction process is irreversible and found to be diffusion controlled. In contrast, on a bare gold electrode surface, a self-assembled monolayer of TrSAuads and RSAuads for disulfides and TrSSAuads or RSSAuads for trisulfides ...

This paper examines the possibility of using water purification wastes in the production of mortar. Within the study context, XRD and XRF analyses were performed to obtain the chemical composition of sludge. Moreover, heat-treated sludge at a temperature of 900ºC was used in the preparation of mortar mixes as a partial sand replacement (5, 10, 15, and 20% by sand weight) with a w/c of 0.48. Fresh mortars were tested for workability, and mortar samples with 7, 28, and 90 days curing ages were tested ...

This study aimed to investigate the effect of replacing fat in broiler grower diet with sucrose combined with supplementation of the synthetic amino acid lysine on growth performance, gastrointestinal morphology, and blood biochemical parameters in broiler chickens. Broilers were raised for 21 days and then divided into two treatment groups (n=24 in each group). Two dietary treatments were used: corn-soy-based diet with oil (control) and corn-soy-based diet formulated with sucrose (3.30%) and lysine ...

This study was conducted to determine the effect of corn particle sizes on broiler performance, carcass characteristics and intestinal morphology during growing stage. Forty five broiler chickens were brooded for 21 days and thereafter divided into three treatment groups. Each group were fed different level of corn particle sizes (fine = 0.96 mm, medium = 1.22 mm and coarse = 1.60 mm). Each treatment was replicated five times (3 birds/replicate). The experiment was conducted from day 21 to day 42 of age ( ...
