Scutellarin (Scu) is the major active principle (flavonoid) extracted from Erigeron breviscapus (Vant.) Hand-Mazz, a Chinese herbal medicine. In this paper, we investigated the effects of Scu on brain injury through the inhibition of AIF-mediated apoptosis induced by transient focal brain ischemia in rats. Rats were treated with Scu for 7 d and then subjected to cerebral ischemia/reperfusion (I/R) injury induced by a middle cerebral artery occlusion (MCAO). After 2 h of ischemia and 22 h of reperfusion, ...

Radar emitter individual identification plays an increasingly important role in electronic support measures (ESM) system. To cope with the problems of low accuracy and poor stability of radar emitter individual identification, a novel method, named MGWEPSO-BXGBoost (Mutation Grey Wolf Elite Particle Swarm Optimization Balanced eXtreme Gradient Boosting), is proposed. In consideration of the fact that the number of radar signals measured from the real environment is usually imbalanced, a novel balance ...

Experimental large-scale screens for drug repositioning are limited by restriction to in vitro conditions and lack of applicability to real human conditions. Here, we developed an in silico screen in human in vivo conditions using a reference of single gene mutations' non-tissue-specific "core transcriptome signatures" (CSs) of 8,476 genes generated from the TCGA database. We developed the core-signature drug-to-gene (csD2G) software to scan 3,546 drug treatment profiles against the reference signatures. ...

Single-phase 9 at. % Cr-doped ZnO film has been prepared on Pt(111)/Ti/SiO2/Si(100) substrates by reactive sputtering method. The film is found to present ferroelectric and ferromagnetic behaviors simultaneously at room temperature, and it undergoes transitions to paraelectric and paramagnetic phases at ∼368–373 and ∼495 K, respectively. It is considered that the local electric dipoles induced by the distortions of CrO4 tetrahedra should be responsible for the ferroelectricity. On the other hand, the ...

An efficient catalytic system for nitrogen (N2) photofixation generally consists of light-harvesting units, active sites, and an electron-transfer bridge. In order to track photogenerated electron flow between different functional units, it is highly desired to develop in situ characterization techniques with element-specific capability, surface sensitivity, and detection of unoccupied states. In this work, we developed in situ synchrotron radiation soft X-ray absorption spectroscopy (in situ sXAS) ...

Abstract Ferromagnetism is usually deemed incompatible with superconductivity. Consequently, the coexistence of superconductivity and ferromagnetism is usually observed only in elegantly designed multi-ingredient structures in which the two competing electronic states originate from separate structural components. Here we report the use of surface molecular adsorption to induce ferromagnetism in two-dimensional superconducting NbSe 2 , representing the freestanding case of the coexistence of superconductivity ...

The present study aimed to elucidate the molecular mechanisms underlying the induction of cytotoxic effects by sasanquasaponin (SQS) in HepG2 cells. Following SQS treatment, time‑ and dose‑dependent increases in the apoptotic rate were observed. The induction of cell death by SQS mainly occurs via programmed cell death, as indicated by Annexin V‑fluorescein isothiocyanate and propidium iodide staining, where up to 30% apoptotic cells were detected following 12 h SQS treatment. Reverse transcription‑ ...

Selective laser melting (SLM) is one of the most widely used metal additive manufacturing (AM) technologies and has great potential for forming complex structured parts. As GH3625 superalloy becomes more demanding for complex structured parts, making SLM offers a unique opportunity for manufacturing complex structured superalloys. However, there are relatively few studies on the microstructural evolution of GH3625 superalloys prepared by SLM, and the high tensile strength but the low elongation of ...

Abstract Orienting the migration of photogenerated electrons to the target active single atoms instead of dissipation at inert sites is crucial to improve the photocatalytic activity of single‐atom catalysts, but remains a challenge. Herein, it is demonstrated that the strong interaction between Ru single atoms and the second coordination sphere significantly enriches photogenerated electrons at Ru active sites and boosted N 2 photofixation activity. The extra RuCo coordination from the strong ...

Abstract The purpose of human object detection is to obtain the number of people and their position in images, which is one of the core problems in the field of machine vision. However, the high missing detection rate from small- and medium-sized human bodies due to the large variety of human scale in human object detection tasks still influences the performance of human object detection. To solve the above problem, this paper proposed an improved ASPP_BiFPN_YOLOv4 (ABYOLOv4) method to detect human ...

Behavioral strategies used in scent communication can reflect the adaptive capacity of animals. Signal detection theory and the principle of least effort posit that scent marking must be efficient and energy maximizing. The giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) is a solitary species that relies heavily on scent communication. There have been few studies on scent communication of wild pandas due to their elusive nature. To deepen the understanding of scent communication in this vulnerable species, ...

Antimony (Sb) has been considered a promising anode for sodium-ion batteries (SIBs) owing to its high theoretical capacity (660 mA h g-1) and low redox voltage (0.2-0.9 V vs Na+/Na). However, the capacity degradation caused by the volumetric variation during battery discharge/charge hinders the practical application. Herein, guided by the DFT calculation, Sb/Fe2S3 was fabricated by annealing Fe and Sb2S3 mixed powder. Next, Sb/Fe2S3 was blended with 15 wt % graphite by ball milling, yielding nano-Sb/Fe2S3 ...

Pathological angiogenesis is a hallmark of many diseases. Previously, we reported that orphan nuclear receptor TR3/Nur77 (human homolog, Nur77, mouse homolog) is a critical mediator of angiogenesis to regulate tumor growth and skin wound healing via down-regulating the expression of the junctional proteins and integrin β4. However, the molecular mechanism, by which TR3/Nur77 regulated angiogenesis, was still not completely understood. In this report by analyzing the integrin expression profile in ...

Abstract Given that plant growth is often water‐limited in grasslands, it has been proposed that projected increases in precipitation could increase plant productivity and carbon sequestration. However, the existing evidence for this hypothesis comes primarily from observational studies along natural precipitation gradients or from short‐term manipulative experiments. It remains unclear whether long‐term increased precipitation persistently stimulates grassland productivity. In the world's largest ...
