Recently, the large $CP$ asymmetries in ${B}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}\ensuremath{\rightarrow}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ifmmode\pm\else\textpm\fi{}}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}$ decays were found by the LHCb Collaboration to localize in the region ${m}_{{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{+}{\ensuremath{\pi}}^{\ensuremath{-}}}^{2}<0.4\text{ }\text{ }{\mathrm{GeV}}^{2}$. We find such large localized $CP$ asymmetries may be due to the interference between a light scalar and ${\ensuremath{\rho}}^{0}( ...

DNA is frequently damaged by various physical and chemical agents. DNA damage can lead to mutations during replication. In the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae, the damage-induced mutagenesis pathway requires the Rev1 protein. We have isolated a human cDNA homologous to the yeast REV1 gene. The human REV1 cDNA consists of 4255 bp and codes for a protein of 1251 amino acid residues with a calculated molecular weight of 138 248 Da. The human REV1 gene is localized between 2q11.1 and 2q11.2. We show ...

Separation of light hydrocarbons (C1-C9) represents one of the "seven chemical separations to change the world". Boron clusters can potentially play an important role in chemical separation, due to their unique three-dimensional structures and their ability to promote a potentially rich array of weak noncovalent interactions. Herein, we report the rational design of metallacages with carborane functionality and cooperative dihydrogen binding sites for the highly selective capture of cyclohexane molecules. ...

Bi2Te3-based alloys are the state of art thermoelectric materials for near-room temperature applications. However, the figure of merit, ZT, of n-type Bi2Te2.7Se0.3 (BTS) is not large enough to its wide applications, and previous studies seldom involve incorporation of Mn-based alloys in BTS-based composites. Here, we show that through dispersion of transition-metal selenide MnSb2Se4 (MSS) into BTS can simultaneously increase the power factor (PF) and reduce lattice thermal conductivity (κL) greatly. ...

Despite extensive research and several stunning breakthroughs in the synthesis of interlocked molecular species, [3]catenanes, Borromean rings and ring-in-ring complexes are exceedingly rare and their targeted synthesis remains a formidable challenge. Herein, a series of Cp*Rh-based homogeneous and heterogeneous interlocked structures have been prepared by coordination-driven self-assembly, not only including metalla[2]catenanes and molecular Borromean rings, but also linear metalla[3]catenanes and ...

Herein, we describe how to utilize dihydrogen bond interactions to achieve alkane recognition and hexane isomer separation. A series of metallacycles based on carborane backbones are presented herein, revealing interdependent B–Hδ−···Hδ+–C proton–hydride interactions. The metallacycles take advantage of these dihydrogen bond interactions for the separation of hexane isomers. We show that the metallacycle 3a, bearing 1,4-di(4-pyridyl)benzene (DPB), can produce n-hexane with a purity of >99% in a single ...

Abstract Over the past decades, molecular knots and links have captivated the chemical community due to their promising mimicry properties in molecular machines and biomolecules and are being realized with increasing frequency with small molecules. Herein, we describe how to utilize stacking interactions and hydrogen-bonding patterns to form trefoil knots, figure-eight knots and [2]catenanes. A transformation can occur between the unique trefoil knot and its isomeric boat-shaped tetranuclear macrocycle ...

A series of Cp*Rh‐based molecular Borromean rings (BRs) are prepared from naphthazarine or metallaligand. Some of as‐synthesized BRs display high stability and are formed in high yields in solution. The reason is related to the length ratio of the long‐arm linker and short‐arm linker, where smaller aspect ratios of the metallarectangles promote improved stability and yields of the BRs in solution. Increasing the width of the metallaligand or pyridyl ligand hinders the formation of BRs and leads to ...

Herein, we describe how to utilize stacking interactions to achieve selective supramolecular transformation and molecular Borromean rings (BRs). By using a dinuclear naphthalenediimide (NDI)-based Cp*Rh acceptor and linear bipyridyl ligands, organometallic rectangles featuring dynamic behavior have been constructed. Unique discrete aromatic stacking arrays were formed by inducing pyrene units as guest molecules. The topology of the BRs was realized by the use of a strategically chosen ligand which ...

A series of Cp*Rh- and Cp*Ir-based molecular Borromean rings (BRs) have been prepared with dihalogenated ligands (fluoranilic acid, chloranilic acid, and bromianilic acid) and 4,4′-bipyridylacetylene. The halogen atoms play a crucial role in forming BRs. The strength of the interaction among the rings for different BRs is not the same and can be adjusted by changes in the halogen atoms on the precursor. We took advantage of this dissimilarity in the interactions to realize selective reversible conversion ...

One-pot reactions of carborane carboxylic acids (L), [Cp*IrCl2]2, and silver salt are reported, which lead to regioselective B-H or C-H bond activation at ambient temperature in good yields. This process is demonstrated for three carborane (o-, m-, p-) dicarboxylates, and metal-mediated B-H functionalization of a p-carborane derivative is accomplished for the first time. Two metal-induced self-assembly routes to tetra-nuclear metallacycles 3 and 5 were performed through B(4, 7)/H and B(2, 10)/H activation, ...

We also solved the higher order diffusion equations using a finite element method and compared the solutions from the first-order diffusion equation and Monte Carlo simulations. We found that the conducted model is able to improve the first-order diffusion solution in a transport-like homogeneous or heterogeneous medium. Reconstructed images based on the higher order diffusion ...

High-valence metal-doped multimetal (oxy)hydroxides outperform noble metal electrocatalysts for the oxygen evolution reaction (OER) owing to the modified energetics between 3d metals and high-valence dopants. However, the rational design of sufficient and subtle modulators is still challenging. With a multimetal layered double hydroxide (LDH) as the OER catalyst, this study introduces a series of operando high-valence dopants (Cr, Ru, Ce, and V), which can restrict the 3+ valence states in the LDH template ...

Abstract BACKGROUND: Brain‐metastatic breast cancer (BMBC) is increasing and poses a severe clinical problem because of the lack of effective treatments and because the underlying molecular mechanisms are largely unknown. Recent work has demonstrated that deregulation of epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) may correlate with BMBC progression. However, the exact contribution that EGFR makes to BMBC remains unclear. METHODS: The role of EGFR in BMBC was explored by serial analyses in a brain‐trophic ...

Pound–Drever–Hall (PDH) laser frequency stabilization is a powerful technique widely used for building narrow linewidth lasers. This technique is, however, ineffective in suppressing high-frequency (>100kHz) laser phase noise detrimental for many applications. Here, we introduce an effective method that can greatly enhance its high-frequency performance. The idea is to recycle the residual PDH signal of a laser locked to a cavity by feedforwarding it directly to the laser output field after a delay ...
