Government sources said last night an announcement could be made tomorrow on the location of the £700 million plant, which will create up to 6,000 spin-off jobs. Burnaston, near Derby, has emerged as the favoured location, although local authorities in south Wales insist they are in the running. Mr Jack Whyman, of the AEU executive, said yesterday he was " 90 per cent certain" his union would be awarded sole barganing rights at the plant, which will produce 200,000 cars by 1972. Mr Whyman met leaders of Toyota unions in Japan last week and showed them model single-union, no-strike agreements signed with Nissan and Coca-Cola. Mr Whyman said the Japanese unions had influence with Toyota and had indicated they would be happy to see negotiating rights given to the AEU Doctors reject NHS reforms as being based on guesswork Opening aspect Authority may drop age grades Engineered like No Other Car in the World TV man at funeral told 'stop filming or be shot' Corporals murder trial New centre to combat addictions Soldier 'killed for a fortune' Bar Council raises over £1m to oppose Mackay Egyptians thwart inquiry on Al Fayeds Woman sues over injury 23 years ago Foster parents face action Stray dog menace 'costs country £70m a year' Warnings delayed over fake asthma inhalers Counterfeit drug imports Bad language top concern of viewers Holiday windfalls Portfolio Bond Tube staff vote for strikes Prison drugs Lorries plea Boat snared Jail stabbings Officer fined Tunnel link Acid spilt Apple MacIntosh.
