This proposed dematerialization, as it is pithily known, will be carried out under the scheme called Taurus, the Transfer and Automated Registration of Uncertified Stock. Dematerialization is a bewildering worls of acronyms. Although the fine print has not yet been hammered out, the current thinking of Siscot, the Securities Industry Steering Committee on Taurus, is that instead of only one body keeping track of a company share register, there will be a large number of so-called Tacs, Taurus Account Contrallers, maintaining smaller sub-registers. Banks and brokers are likely to be Tacs. If you buy your shares through a Tac broker you will still receive a contract note, but no share certificate. Instead, the Tac will from time to time send you details of your holdings, a little like a bank statement, and will probably be responsible for ensuring that you receive dividends and communications from the company Flemings Investment Trusts Training to deal with customers in debt Amig Gerrard Vivian Gray The Equitable Life Northumbria Housing M&G Index Forests that became a furnace The late summer fires in the south of France claimed lives and devastated thousands of acres, despite the bravery of firefighters on the ground and in the air.
