While the proporton of sixth formers from comprehensives, grammar schools and sixth-form colleges getting an offer at Oxford fell this year by about 2 per cent to 44.5 per cent, the number at Cambridge overtook those educated in the pritook those educated in the private sector. Just over 44 per cent of applicants form state schools were successful, compared with 48 per ceat from public schools. At Cambridge, it was 47 per cent from private schools.
