pp 303-6 1835 Feb 4-5. Buxton to Hannah Buxton, about John Jeremie's retun from Mauritius and the way four of the matters which had troubled him had ended. He describes a meeting at which it was decided that he should approach Lord Aberdeen at the Colonial Office on a certain matter. Notes by Sarah Buxton record that he had told her on return to Northrepps Hall about his activities in London:- his discussion with Lord Aberdeen on negro education, wages, the special magistrates in the West Indies and the Vagrancy Act in the Cape of Good Hope: a talk with James Stephens; a meeting with Jeremie and the latter's report on Mauritius and his determination to return to the colony; also a meeting with Lushington, Samuel Gurney, Josiah Forster and Edward Buxton to plan their Parliamentary action in the new session.
