Memoir pp 112-16 1835 Oct 13. Buxton to Zachary Macaulay, about the cheque and his health. He discusses the possibility of the French Government doing something about slavery during the next session, the affairs of the Mico Charity, the lack of education in Mauritius, Sligo's letters and the opinions of both Sligo and Mulgrave that not one tenth of the horror of slavery in Jamaica had been told. He expresses satisfaction that he had been able to devote his Parliamentary life to the abolition of slavery. He informs him that no more Parliamentary papers had been issued and asks his advice on his Motion to abolish apprenticeship. He writes of his own interest in the fate of the Kaffirs and the death of Hintza. Finally he asks Macaulay to send him anecdotes about William Wilberforce to be passed on to his son Samuel, questions on the state of Haiti for him to put to Captain Courtenay and mentions the death of Joseph John Gurney's wife.
