pp 349-50 1836 Jan 24. Buxton to Stokes, about the distribution of the second part of the Parliamentary Papers on the West Indies, just published, to Macaulay, Jeremie and Scoble. His belief that Stephen was deranged had persuaded him to make any concessions which might appease his feelings. He authorises Stokes to say that Buxton was there at the time but that his mind was firmly resolved on the subject of duelling. He also authorises Stokes to talk with Forster about this and to show him a letter from Macaulay about Stephen. (Copy.)
