Priscilla Johnston to Sarah Buxton and Anna Gurney, about the value of her father's work as a watcher over the abolition developments, his visit to the Colonial Office when he discussed the Jamaica Vagrancy Act with Sir George Grey and immediate arrangements to disallow it were made. She records his success at the Office over the South African problems, the probability that O'Connell would attack him on the George Stephen correspondence when Roebuck's Mauritian Motion was raised in the House, her disappointment that Stephen was prevented from issuing his challenge to Buxton and the choice of Edward Buxton's and Andrew Johnston's seconds in the event of their being challenged.
