pp 285 a-d 1840 May 29. Lord John Russell to Buxton, advising him that the Queen should not be asked to become patron of the Slavery Extinction Society. He mentions the possibility that a debate would be initiated on the affairs of Jamaica or Mauritius at the meeting whichwould be very awkward for Prince Albert, and asks him to see that this did not happen.
