pp 83 a-d 1840 Dec 21. Innes to Buxton, stating that the meeting was on November 18 and that Robert Young, W. E. Forster, Dr Hodgkin, H. Tuckett (treasurer) and Richard King were present. The resolution had been directed in general against those who had not attended meetings recently, not to particular persons. Though he had drafted the resolution, designed to appeal for funds, he claims he had written nothing which could be considered offensive. He had been informed by a member of the Society that he had erred in addressing such a letter to Buxton, the president, and he therefore trusts that the explanation of the manner in which Buxton had received such a letter would exonerate him from any intention of a personal nature.
