p 234 1841 April 30. Burton to William E. Forster, announcing the acquisition of Fernando Po but warning him not to say anything about it. He asks for his help in drawing up a meorial to the Government on the advisibility of sending one or two ships to the east coast of Africa to choose a suitable station from which to organise measures to suppress the slave trade and for pouring British goods, Christian missionaries and school teachers into Africa. He tells him that he could provide him with information on this matter if he would do the writing. (Copy.)
