pp 253 a-d 1841 May 20, 22. William Ossoo Quantimissah and John Ossoo Ansah to the Rev. Thomas Pyne and his sister Mrs Luck, from on board the 'Albert' and from Funchal, about their sea-sickness, the friendliness of the captain and officers, their hopes for the Expedition's success and the benefits it would bring to Africa and about the invitation of the British consul at Funchal to dine with him. Quantimissah describes the scenery of Madeira and the mountains they had climbed with Lieutenant Fishbourne, also the people of the island and their way of life. He asks Pyne to write to him and promises to write himself from the Cape Coast. He asks him also to thank Trotter for the kindness he had shown them should he return from the Expedition. Ansah describes to Mrs Luck their parting from Pyne and their appreciation of the scenery there. (Copy.)
