pp 308-9 1812 Nov 19. Buxton to Trew, about the need to acquire property in Fernando Po which would be advantageous to their cause and giving him permission to buy sufficient land and buildings to provide for their Normal Establishment there as long as it did not cost more than£1200. He would, himself, provide the funds for the purchase though others might join him as partners provided they did so on his terms. The main consideration was speed and secrecy so that competitors might not thwart them. He records that he had taken the chair at a lecture byEccleston at Earlham the day before and that some people were dissatisfied with Eccleston because they thought him flippant. As he was enclosing Priscilla's letter about him, he begs Trew toignore what she had said about himself because the letter had been written to her father in confidence. He was dejected about the state of their Society. (Copy.) A note identifies this asthe reply to No 139 L.C.
