pp 279-82 1821 Feb 2. London. He writes of the pleasure it gave him to sacrifice the company of his wife in order to promote Priscilla's welfare though he was disappointed at receiving no further messages from her. He claims that he was not uncomfortable or pining because he had such a multitude of engagements. He expresses confidence that Priscilla was supported in her trying hour by the Lord's love. He also tells Hannah that the greatest happiness was derived from domestic bliss. He refers to a letter from Catherine which had given him much pleasure, though it had shamed him over the way he had behaved towards her even though he loved her dearly. He considers it fortunate that the Glovers were not in Haiti because he had heard there were earthquakes there. He mentions that he was going to see Sir Alexander Johnston about the slave trade and Evans, the attorney, about "Sam's business", then to the House of Commons, adding that he was determined to return to Norfolk on Thursday.
