Archival copies and original letters. Archival collection of letters and papers submitted by cardinals and missionaries to the Holy Congregation de Propaganda Fide concerning missionary work in non-Catholic countries. Owned by Frederick North, 5th Earl of Guilford, but lacking his armorial bookplate. '601' in pencil in top right corner of f. 1 in both MSS. Purchased from R. H. Evans, 12 Dec. 1830, lot 601. Papers relating to Holy Congregation de Propaganda Fide missions in Europe, the Philippines, the Holy Land and the Far East, sent to Cardinal Savo Millini as papal nuncio at Madrid; 1675-1685. Italian, Spanish, French and Latin. Original letters and archival copies, partly printed. Authors of the letters are Cardinals Alderano Cibo, Urbano Cerri, Secretary of the Propaganda Fide, Giovanni Camillo Perejio, Paluzzo Altieri, Marcello Durrazo, and Francisco Pallu, Bishop of Heliopolis, Don Diego Lince, Archbishop of Tuam, Don Pedro Coloma, Spanish Secretary of State, and Luis Francisco de la Cerda y Aragona, Duque de Medina Celi y Segorbe and Viceroy of Naples.
