Thomas Stains to Buxton asking for a testimonial in any way he pleased to the work of the Civilization Committee of the Foulahs and other Aborigines of Western Africa for which society he was soliciting subscriptions. He encloses a copy of the Instructions to Mr Spencer appointed as Superintendent of the Civilization Department, in connection with the Wesleyan Mission at MacCarthy's Island, Gambia, and the circular on the society.
