pp 439-54 1808 June 20-23. Four letters from Thomas Clarkson to David Barclay providing a bibliography of the works on the slave trade to supplement the inadequate one presented by the latter in a paper he had written on the subject. Clarkson states that he did not possess all the works listed and that he did not even have a complete series of his own works. He points out certain inaccuracies in Barclay's list, explains why there were only two publications on the subject during 1789 and 1790 while the subject was being considered by the House of Commons, and warns that he might not have a full list of the publications from 1792 to 1808 because he had been trying to restore his ruined constitution in that time. He prides himself, however, on adding about seventy references to Barclay's original list of publications even though he had not mentioned any of those which were written against the abolition of the trade and had only included those relevant to the abolition of the English trade.
