Resumo

Photograph of the pillared façade of the Sayyid Mosque at Mandal, Gujarat, taken by Henry Cousens in the 1880s, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections. Sultan Muhammad Tughluq (r.1325-51) visited Gujarat in 1347 and awarded the Rana of Mandal for his help in restoring order to the region. In 1414 the chief of Mandal Jhala Satarsalji of Mandal revolted against Sultan Ahmad I (r.1411-1442), however the state did not become part of the crown domains until 1530. The Sayyid Mosque probably dates to the early 15th century. 22.7 x 27.65 Centimetres. Photographer: Cousens, Henry.
