Resumo
Photograph of the plain façade of the Jami Masjid at Mandal from the (?)south-east, taken by Henry Cousens in the 1880s. This photograph is reproduced in collotype in Archaeological Survey of Western India, VIII, pl.lxxvi/2. This is a view of the mosque looking along the plain façade from the (?)south-east. Sultan Muhammad Tughluq (r.1325-51) visited Gujarat in 1347 and awarded the Rana of Mandal for his help in restoring order to the region. In 1414 the chief of Mandal Jhala Satarsalji of Mandal revolted against Sultan Ahmad I (r.1411-1442), however the state did not become part of the crown domains until 1530. The Jami Masjid probably dates to the early 15th century. 22.4 x 28.7 Centimetres. Photographer: Cousens, Henry.
