Resumo

View looking across the courtyard towards palace buildings. India Museum no. 1436. Received from Captain Lyon, 7 February 1871. Duplicate print at Photo 1001 (3194). 545. - To enter the citadel the visitor will pass through two gateways, the inner one of black marble with a wooden door clamped by iron plates riveted by strong iron pegs. The first building which will be seen is that represented in this view, it is the same as that shown in No. 533 and called the Sat Kund or Haft Mahal 'Seven Stories.' Time, neglect, and the climate have wrought sad havoc on this once splendid building, and the same enemies have indeed changed the open space seen in the foreground, which now covered with jungle was once a beautiful garden with fountains, statues, etc., etc. Photographer: Lyon, Edmund David.
