Resumo

View looking towards south façade of the tomb, with the mosque (partially concealed by wall in foreground) at the left. India Museum no. 1451. Received from Captain Lyon 7 February 1871. Duplicate print at Photo 1001 (3209). 560. - The railway is outside the wall by which the city is surrounded, and instead of entering by the gate nearest to the station, it will be better to proceed at once to that called Jumalpur, just inside which will be seen the Ranee Sipree mosque and tomb, of which this Photograph gives a general view as seen from the road, the mosque being to the left and the tomb to the right. No one can fail at once to remark the ruinous and untidy state in which this building is left, and which will also be found to pervade every other mosque and tomb through the whole place, a perfect disgrace to such a populous and opulent city, and contrasting most unfavorable with Beejapoor, the few inhabitants of which, poor and miserable as they appear, still keep their public buildings clean and in good order. Photographer: Lyon, Edmund David.
