Resumo

This photograph of sculpture slabs lined up in front of carved pillars in the grounds of the Bihar Museum was taken by Joseph David Beglar in the 1870s and is part of the Archaeological Survey of India Collections. Bloch lists the items as, "Twelve-armed Bodhitsattva, Buddhistic female deity, Durga, Avalokiteshvara, Vajravarahi, Vishnu." The slabs depict a mixture of both Buddhist and Brahmanical deities. Unfortunately the original context of these sculptures is not known making any assessment of date difficult. Photographer: Beglar, Joseph David.
