Resumo

A photograph by E Taurines of the Victoria Dock construction work in Bombay City taken between 1885 and 1888. The new docks at Bombay were foremost among several transforming improvements in the city following a period of economic prosperity. First envisaged in the 1840s, they were begun in the 1860s and finally constructed all up the eastern shoreline in the 70s, 80s and 90s. They were built to deal with the enormously expanded trade of the newly industrialised city. Photographer: Taurines, E.
