Resumo
A hand-coloured print of Dhurrumtollah or Ghulam Muhammad Mosque, Calcutta, from the Fiebig Collection: Views of Calcutta and Surrounding Districts, taken by Frederick Fiebig in 1851. General view of the Mosque at the junction of Dhurrumtollah Street and Esplanade Row. The mosque was built by Prince Ghulam Muhammad, a son of Tipu Sultan, in 'gratitude to God and in commemoration of the Honourable Court of Directors granting him arrears of his stipend in 1840'. Opened in 1842, it was in a hybrid style, with a mingling of European and Islamic details. Photographer: Fiebig, Frederick.
