A Hand-coloured print of the Medical Hospital, Calcutta, from the Fiebig Collection: Views of Calcutta and Surrounding Districts, taken by Frederick Fiebig in 1851. This is a view of the porticoed façade of the Fever or General Medical Hospital on College Street, swathed in scaffolding during its construction. The Hospital was designed and built by Messrs. Bird & Co. and was opened in 1852. The foundations of the hospital were laid in 1848 by the Viceroy, Lord Dalhousie. Photographer: Fiebig, Frederick.
