Resumo
Photograph, from an album of 62 views of India and Ceylon. The print is unsigned but probably by Johnston & Hoffmann. View looking down onto shipping on the river Hooghly, from a building near the Howrah Bridge, to the north of Chandpaul Ghat, the earliest main landing stage in Calcutta. At the extreme left is the large neo-classical structure of Chotulal's Ghat, and a little further north is Mullick's Ghat with the cast-iron structure. Ghat is the term used in India for a stepped embankment leading down to a river. Photographer: Johnston and Hoffmann.
