Resumo
Photograph from the Curzon ollection, of the outer gate of the Purana Mahal or Old Palace at Dig, Rajasthan, taken by the commercial studio of Priyalall & Company in c.1900. The Purana Mahal is the oldest and largest palace in the complex at Dig, the beautiful 18th-century garden palace of the Jats of Bharatpur. It was built from 1722 onwards by Badan Singh (ruled 1722-33) and lies at the southern edge of the main formal garden and the Rup Sagar, one of two reservoirs. This view of the outer gate shows a portico with a large central cusped arch entrance, surmounted by a pavilion with columns supported on brackets, and crowned by a curved bangla roof.
