Photograph from the Curzon Collection: 'Visit of His Excellency the Viceroy. Kotah, November, 1902' of a street scene in the bazaar at Kota, Rajasthan, taken by P.A. Herzog and P. Higgins in 1902. This view records a sharply receding perspective to the right and a building facade decorated with figurative designs in the left foreground. The dark recesses of the shop interiors and areas of shadow are contrasted with the brightly lit street and buildings. This view is one of several street scenes taken in Kota by Herzog and Higgins when they accompanied Lord Curzon on an official visit in November 1902. Photographer: Herzog and Higgins.
