Photograph from the Curzon Collection: 'Visit of His Excellency the Viceroy. Kotah, November, 1902' of a street scene in the bazaar at Kota, Rajasthan, taken by P.A. Herzog and P. Higgins in 1902. This view records a perspective down a wide empty street lined with shops towards a gate in the distance. The town houses at left are typically designed with projecting enclosed balconies or jarokhas, deep cornices and awnings at the shop entrances casting heavy shade. This view is one of several street scenes taken in Kota by Herzog and Higgins when they accompanied Lord Curzon on an official visit in November 1902. Photographer: Herzog and Higgins.
