View towards Takht-i-Sulaiman from the bank of the River Jhelum at Pandrethan, near Srinagar from the 'Album of Indian Views' taken by Samuel Bourne in 1864. Sulaiman Mountains are a range running north to south along the western edge of the Indus river valley in Central Pakistan. The highest point of the Sulaiman mountains is the twin-peaked Takht-i-Sulaiman (Throne of Solomon) at the northern end of the range, a Muslim pilgrimage site. The River Jhelum is one of the five tributaries of the Indus, the great river which has its source in the Himalayas and from which India takes its name. Photographer: Bourne, Samuel.
