Platinum Print Photograph by Frederick Hollyer (1837-1933) of Samuel Smiles (1812-1904). Born in Scotland, Smiles Was a Writer, Political Reformer and Moralist. His Best Known Work Is Self Help, Written in 1859. He Also Produced Biographies of Great Men Who through Hard Graft Found Success; They Included Life of George Stephenson (1875), Lives of the Engineers (1861) and a Work on Josiah Wedgewood (1894).
