A Photograph of a Hansom Cab Taken on a London Street by Paul Martin in about 1900. A Thirsty Horse Drinks from a Roadside Trough on a Sunny Day. Hansom Cabs Such as These Were the Horse-Drawn Taxis of London around the Turn of the Twentieth Century. The Troughs, Provided by the Metropolitan Drinking Fountain and Cattle Trough Association, Gave Free Drinking Water. Paul Martin Is Regarded as a Pioneer of Photo Journalism. In 1892 He Bought a 'Facile' - a Popular Hand Camera Made by Fallowfield of London. With His Camera Disguised as a Leather Case, He Was Able to Work Unobserved, Taking the Candid Photographs of Daily Life Which Are Recognised as His Greatest Work.
