The Five-Story Pagoda Seen from the Hour Bell at Bentenyama. Since People Did Not Use Clocks in the Edo Period, They Confirmed the Time of Day by Listening to the Temple Bell. The Bell Was Struck Three Times before the Hour Was Announced. Thus, Nine Rings Meant Six O'clock in the Morning. Taken by Uchida Kuichi in 1872 or 1873.
