Resumo
Photograph of Hakim's Baths, in Fatehpur Sikri, from the Archaeological Survey of India Collections, taken by Edmund William Smith in 1892. Fatehpur Sikri city was built by the Mughal Emperor Akbar (r.1556-1605) between 1571 and 1585. This is a close view of the damage to the stucco and mosaic surfaces on the walls and vaulted ceiling of the dressing room within Hakim's Baths at Fatehpur Sikri. This building is situated south of the Daftar Khana (Records Office) within a rocky ravine. Although the baths were so named because of their proximity to the nearby doctor's quarters they would most likely have been used by the Emperor Akbar himself.
