Resumo

Photograph of the pyramidal Ras Mancha Temple Bishnupur, Bankura District, taken by Joseph David Beglar in 1872. General view of the temple, a stepped pyramid standing on an arcaded platform. Bengal list, pp. 16-17: "The temple is absolutely unique in style and architecture, not only in Bengal, but in India. Of minor brick buildings, this is the most worth preserving. It is a characteristic of the pyramidal temples of the Malla era; it is uninsribed." J. D. Beglar, Report of a tour through the Bengal provinces. (A.S.I. Vol. VIII, Calcutta, 1878), p. 205: ". I must not omit to notice the very curious pyramidal structure known as the Ras Mancha; a photograph of it has been taken.". Photographer: Beglar, Joseph David.
