This is a view from a colonnaded porch looking towards the entrance and the interior of a temple at Velapur. The temple is a double shrine in the Hemadpanti style dating to c.1300 in the reign of Devagiri Yadava king Ramchandra (1271-1310). Numerous temples in the Hemadpanti style were built in Central India under the Yadava dynasty in the 12th century. They are characterised by a certain heaviness and the decoration is usually in the form of wall mouldings. There is no figure sculpture on the outer walls. 24 x 29 Centimetres. Photographer: Cousens, Henry.
