Three-quarter length standing carte de visite portrait of Sir Waghji Ravaji, Thakur Sahib of Morvi (1858-1922) from the 'Album of cartes de visite portraits of Indian rulers and notables' taken by Bourne and Shepherd in the early 1870s. Morvi, located in Gujrat, was home of the Thakur Sahibs of Morvi, who descended from the Raos of Cutch. Sir Waghji Ravaji was created a Knight Grand Commander of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire in 1887 and a Commander of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire in 1897. He was responsible for building India's first art-deco palace at Morvi. 8.3 x 5.1 Centimetres. Photographer: Bourne and Shepherd.
