Full-length standing carte-de-visite portrait of Sir Wakhatsinghji Dalelsinghji, Raja of Lunavada (1860-1929) from the 'Album of cartes de visite portraits of Indian rulers and notables' by Bourne and Shepherd, early 1870s. Lunavada, now in Gujarat, was a Princely state which was a tributory of both Baroda and Gwailor, whose rights were transferred to the British in 1861. Lunavada chiefs were from the Solanki Rajput clan. Sir Wakhatsinghji was educated at Rajkumar College, Rajkot and installed to the throne in 1880. He was created a Knight Commander of the Most Eminent Order of the Indian Empire. 8.3 x 5 Centimetres. Photographer: Bourne and Shepherd.
